Our story

Accounting is broken.
We're rebuilding it as a system.

Hisaabo exists because 63 million Indian businesses deserve financial infrastructure, not forms-based software with AI bolted on.

Why now

Four things became true at the same time: LLMs can reliably execute structured tools. MCP standardizes agent interaction. Indian accounting workflows are still manual and fragmented. And GST compliance demands deterministic systems — not AI suggestions.

We watched CAs share bank credentials on WhatsApp. Articled clerks with unscoped access to every client's data. Businesses losing access to their own invoices because they missed a renewal. 63 million MSMEs running on paper, Excel, and a CA who shows up once a year.

The gap between what technology can do and what Indian businesses actually use has never been wider. This combination did not exist two years ago. It does now. That's why we built Hisaabo — not as better billing software, but as the financial operating system this moment demands.

The mission

Build a financial operating system where every capability available to a human is available to an AI agent. Open source. Self-hostable. Free forever. Built India-first.

Transparency

The source code is open. You can read every line, understand exactly what happens with your data, and verify our claims yourself.

Data ownership

Your data is yours. Export it anytime, self-host it, take it with you. We will never hold your business data hostage.

Accessibility

Professional tools shouldn't be priced for enterprises only. The core product is free, and the cloud service is priced for real Indian businesses.

Quality

Free does not mean half-baked. Hisaabo is built with the same care and engineering standards you'd expect from a premium product.

Open source, sustainable business

The entire financial operating system is open source. Full double-entry accounting, GST compliance suite, bank reconciliation engine, and agent-native architecture. You can self-host it and run your business without paying us a single rupee.

The cloud service adds managed infrastructure: automatic backups, WhatsApp integration, bank feeds, and priority support. This is how we fund continued development. The open-source version is genuinely complete — not a crippled demo.

Built India-first. Not localized after.

GST logic is foundational, not bolted on. Financial years start in April. CGST/SGST splits from state codes. HSN validation against 19,000 official codes. ITC tracking with 180-day aging under Section 16(4). E-invoicing via NIC IRP.

This is not a product built for another market and adapted for India. Every line of code was written for the Indian compliance landscape — the payment modes, the bank formats, the filing deadlines, the CA workflows.
